I’ve known Derek back in our recruit days in the Navy, back then I remembered he was an easy-come, easy-go fellow. I’ve seen him develop his assertiveness and leadership qualities when we were deployed to our respective RSN ships. Right after Derek left the Navy, he joined Prudential with an iron mindset to rise up to management level. His determination and grit enabled him to expand his team fast in the early days. And seeing how he spends time and effort grooming the people under him, I took the huge step to join him as part of my mid-life career switch. I would say this is the best decision I’ve made as I can see that financial planning is both an important and meaningful part of life in order to protect those close and dear to us.

Took a leap of faith with Derek back in 2016. As a mid-career switch person like me, I would also like to explore more on how to fast track to being part of the management path in this industry. I switched from my banking job to join DKO as a Financial Consultant during the covid crisis when some would hesitate. Half a year into this industry, I can say that the opportunities and goals that await me seem limitless; given Derek's direct mentorship and support. A person with humble beginnings, Derek also started out like everyone else and worked his way to who he is today. I am extremely proud of him as my Financial Services Director, mentor, and friend.
